Over the last few years increased demand by both owners and students to produce riders and horses has meant a shift away from large scale breeding, and the focus now for Kris is on the continued development of young horses through to FEI, from Junior Preliminary riders to FEI level competitors.
In 2014 Kris and the team increased the focus of positive reinforcement training with the assistance of Andrew Lewis, utilising some of the techniques used by Para-Olympian Georgia Bruce.
The powerful combination of positive reinforcement training, natural horsemanship and classical dressage training enables identification of ineffective communication between horse and human which results in unsatisfactory behaviors or performance, and the subsequent structuring of effective and progressive individualised training programs.
Kris is passionately committed to further building on the already remarkable benefits demonstrated through combining classical dressage training with positive reinforcement training techniques. The results have been truly outstanding and he is incredibly excited to share with progressive-minded riders from various disciplines, the positive changes he and his team have facilitated in his own stable and with clients.
This powerful knowledge has enabled a holistic, positive and intelligent approach to designing training programs, and a subsequent deepened level of understanding for horse and rider through clear communication via personal and equine awareness. This results in a highly constructive foundation and progression for both horse and rider, whilst still paying close attention to the classical scale, rider goals and competition objectives.
Through setting up the correct supportive conditions, a pathway is created for clearer communication between horse and handler. Positive changes come about straight away, leaving riders inspired and eager to further advance their experiences with these techniques.
The frequency of coaching clinics continues to increase, holding regular clinics in Queensland and New South Wales. One such clinic in March 2016 was attended by 28 riders from various backgrounds over two days.
